BFPUG - Patterns first meeting April 5th
When BFPUG was started we had also hoped to start up a Design Patterns sub group that would get together and talk about patterns monthly. Well now that BFPUG is off to a great start the sub group “Patterns” is going to have its first meeting April 5th, 7pm at Brightcove. This group will be more of a round table discussion rather than having one presenter talk. Brightcove has also offered to buy us pizza and drinks for the meeting. Thank you Brightcove and come join us for the first meeting!

It’s great to see an ActionScript centric Design Patterns Study Group on the East Coast has. Here in the Bay Area we’ve had one going for a couple years. The knowledge gained studying the Gang of Four book with peers has been immense. A spin off group started last week for a third pass through the book. The rest of us are considering a new one. The list we’re considering follows:

Also, Joshua Kerievsky’s learning guide to design patterns (http://www.industriallogic.com/papers/learning.html) was helpful for us. You may want to look into it.
Have fun!

Thanks for the comment Ali and the excellent links. We’ve actually decided to follow Joshua’s session guide at our meetings. Although last week we talked about the Strategy Pattern, started a little out of order but we’ll get back on track. How did you guys structure the meetings? We are trying to shoot for a round table type deal. Any input you have would be more than welcome :).
