June Meeting recap

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Great meeting last night! John Grden showed a bunch of projects that he is working on, or has worked on, and I think managed to inspire just about everyone in the room. And there were a lot of people in the room! I counted about 50, give or take a few, which made it the biggest meeting yet.

John speaking:

After the presentation:

After the meeting, about 20 of us wound up at Flan O’Brien’s in Brigham Circle for the after-meeting get together, which finally wound down about midnight.

Boston Grden?

Just an update on this month’s meeting…

Chris Allen has just posted some teaser screenshots of some of the stuff John Grden will probably talk about. Wicked cool stuff!

Check it out.

We’re also planning a little get-together afterwards, most likely at Flan O’Brien’s on Tremont Street in Brigham Circle. It’s pretty close to NEIA. Come join us after the presentation for a beer or two, some snacks and good conversation!

June Meeting

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

I’m really excited to announce the speaker for our June meeting, Mr. John Grden. A celebrity and hero in the Flash community, we somehow convinced him to fly all the way to Boston from Tampa, FL, for the sole reason of speaking at our meeting (no lie).

With more than seven years of experience in working with Flash technology, John is BLITZ’s lead developer for all high profile accounts as well as Director of Flash Platform. Creator of the Xray debugger and the FLASC compiler GUI, John also started the Red5 open source server project. Prior to joining BLITZ, John was Sr. Flash Developer with Zing.com.

John will be showing some of the fun stuff he gets to do after hours (when nobody pays him to). He’ll be showing some of the latest stuff he’s been doing with BitmapData object and video as well as some of the 3D engine stuff he’s done with bitmap image sequences. Finally, we’ll take a look at the Tripping the Rift cartoon editor (Flash IDE, in Flash).

The meeting is, as usual, Wednesday night, June 28th at 7:00 pm, New England Institute of Art.

Don’t miss this one!
